WEEKLY ADVISORY SCHEDULE


MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH:

SLC meeting in the auditorium.


TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH:

Shortened Day!

Go over the Three Bee’s: Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful handouts. Write your response and share with a neighbor.
Class discussion.


WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH:

Be Safe activity.
Read “First They Came for the Jews”
Write our own poem.
Create a class poem using one line from each student’s poem.


THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18TH:

Students will draw their own maps of the school and designate areas of the school from #1 (areas that are safe ) to #4 (areas that are the least safe).

Discuss with their partners the maps and areas that are safe and those areas that are not. Then broaden the discussion to include the entire class.


FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19TH:

Groupthink:

Divide into groups of four and work together to develop a group name, symbol and rules.

Reflect on the roles each person played in the group.

Discussion of “Groupthink”:


Illusion of invulnerability
Unquestioned belief in the inherent morality of the group
Collective rationalization of group’s decisions
Shared stereotypes of outgroups
Self-censorship
Illusion of unanimity
Direct pressure on dissenters to conform
Self-appointed mindguards to protect group from negative information
